Ruth Morris Gray : Dance of the Elves A spry and enchanting adaptation of Edvard Grieg's magical piano solo, this choral arrangement conjures up heaps of holiday cheer with its clever lyrics and jaunty classical feel. Festive and fun! Ruth Morris Gray : Under the Greenwood Tree Here's an accompanied contemporary madrigal with a lighthearted lilt, guaranteed to bring a smile. This sprightly setting capitalizes on the energy of Shakespeare's witty words from As You Like It. Repeated phrases and rhythmic motives are fun from start to finish. Optional cue notes add an upper harmony on the final refrain. Ruth Morris Gray : Uji River The most unique multicultural piece you will sing this year. A primarily English text tells the spectacular story of an ancient Japanese fishing tradition on the Uji River. And a traditional Asian folk melody floats above a gentle koto-like piano or SoundTrax accompaniment. Magical for treble voices, and highly effective when TB singers sound like fishermen. Ruth Morris Gray : Christmas Shopping Blues This jazzy number is perfect for your women as a novelty piece. Strong thee-part harmony, sassy vocal slides, and an optional trumpet set the mood for Christmas shopping and all the craziness of the gift-giving season. Available separately: SSA, Trumpet; StudioTrax CD. Duration: ca. 2:53. Ruth Morris Gray : Okuyama Ni This elegant 12th-century Japanese text is set to original music with respect to the Japanese sound and culture. Ethereal and refined with flute and percussion, the singer sings of a wandering stag, deep in the mountains, stepping through crimson leaves of autumn. Available: 3-Part Mixed; 2-Part; StudioTrax CD. Ruth Morris Gray : Children of the World A poetic message of how we are all connected by the bonds of life is found in this moving, musical work. With a simple beginning, this piece has rhythmic and contemporary accompaniment and builds to a strong key change. The perfect ending for any concert and an especially nice addition to multicultural-themed programs. Available: SATB; SAB; 2-Part; StudioTrax CD. Ruth Morris Gray : Gakavik (The Partridge) This charming Armenian folk song is both beautiful and simple. This arrangement offers the original Armenian text, a phonetic pronunciation guide and a singable English text. This allows you to perform the work entirely in Armenian, entirely in English or any combination you desire. Ruth Morris Gray : I Ku Mau Mau This traditional Hawaiian chant was used when master canoe builders called for people to bring trees down from the mountains to the ocean side so that canoes could be built. Now set to music, the words teach us to stand up together and work as a team. An upbeat hook, a spoken word section, and a contrasting countermelody combine at the end to create the ultimate multicultural experience. Download the digital ChoreoTrax for even more fun! Ruth Morris Gray : Figgy Pudding! We won't go until we get some---but how exactly do you make that holiday confection, anyway? Find the answer in this playful, original (and completely secular) holiday canon loosely based on a fragment from "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." Prepared with old English Dickensian flair, the round stacks in three, a perfect recipe for building harmony skills. Ruth Morris Gray : Wangolo Some history: this song comes from Haiti, but actually refers to the first King of Angola, Ngolo Kiluanje, who was revered as a great king. The Creole word for "king" ("wa") plus the king's name ("Ngolo") became "Wangolo." It's an authentic folk song recalling the peace and prosperity the Angolan people enjoyed before colonization. This rhythmic rendition, which may be performed without piano if desired, includes optional body percussion, suggested parts for djembe and other instruments, optional solos in the call and response section, plus a final descant that tops off the triadic parallel harmonies. Check out the free online ChoreoTrax video for some creative riser choreography. Ruth Morris Gray : Fa La La La Get out your bobby socks and saddle shoes for this 1950s-style reimagining of "Deck the Hall" with a brand new melody. The classic doo-wop harmonies and rock 'n' roll groove are easy to grasp and sure to entertain. Don't miss the choreography available on With a Song! Ruth Morris Gray : O Say, Can You See Program this moving patriotic piece to celebrate our country at any time of year. An all-new original melody and a shimmering accompaniment beautifully highlight Francis Scott Key's words from iThe Star-Spangled Banner.” Toward the end, a lush musical quote from the national anthem blossoms into a final glorious refrain, a soaring penultimate cadence, and one last introspective accolade for ithe brave!” |
