Joel Raney started playing the piano sometime between learning to walk and learning to read. His taste for gospel music began in a rural Baptist church in Alabama, an influence that shows strongly in his work to this day. After completing his degree in choral conducting at the University of North Alabama, he went on to sharpen his keyboard skills, earning a masters degree in piano performance at The Juilliard School. Since 1999 he has taken the church music scene by storm, with over 250 titles in print, primarily with Hope Publishing where he serves as Editor. His innovative style and inspired arranger's instincts put his numerous choral anthems, musicals and cantatas, handbell compositions, piano solos, and instrumental works at the top of sales charts year after year. In addition to publishing with Hope, Joel's work can be found in the catalogs of Heritage Press, Shawnee, Hal Leonard, Alfred, Fred Bock Music, Jubilate, and AGEHR. |

Joel Raney : Let the Saints Get Up and Sing! Uses: All Saints, Concert, General, Spiritual Scripture: Daniel 7:9-10, I Peter 2:2-3 Engaging from the very first measure, this brilliantly arranged romp for concert usage or All Saints Sunday is a crowd pleaser and a musician's delight! Idiomatic piano writing forms a crafty foundation for this joyful pairing of two traditional spirituals. Joined thematically by images of heaven and our dreams for glory and eternal life, this selection is good any time we celebrate our hope in Christ. Phillips, Craig & Dean : Shine on Us Floating effortlessly on the wings of worship, this classic contemporary song easily makes the transition to choral. The pleasing adaptation fits into the sweet spot for choir adding warmth and hushed intensity to any worship gathering. A brief quote from the refrain of Heavenly Sunlight grows organically from the body of the song, creating a bridge that lifts the piece to new heights for a truly inspiring conclusion. |
