It was back in the 40's and 50's when Bing and the sisters got together and recorded 6 Christmas songs for Decca records, which historically have become some of the most celebrated holiday recordings of all time. Most of the songs will ring a familiar bell, but there are some very cute recordings that didn't quite receive the recognition deserved. This 20 track release includes; "Happy Holidays", "Twelve Days Of Christmas", "I'd Like To Hitch A Ride With Santa Claus", "You're All I Want For Christmas", "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", "Winter Wonderland", "Mele Kalikimaka", and "Here Comes Santa Claus". Like a cracklin fire, this is great music to bring warmth to your home this Christmas season. But here it is, 14 songs performed as only the Persuasions can. The recording opens with a rollicking rendition of the title tune You're All I Want For Christmas, and includes a mix of traditional songs ("Silent Night," "Joy To The World") with contemporary tunes (doo-woppy "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," "Merry Christmas Baby"). Songlist: You're All I Want for Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Jesus Song, This Time of Year, Do You Hear What I Hear, Silent Night, What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?, The Christmas Song, White Christmas, Hey, Santa Claus, Merry Christmas, Baby, Christmas Means Love, Joy to the World Rich-Tone Chorus : Wrapped Up In The Holidays The Rich-Tone Chorus are no strangers to awards ceremonies at Sweet Adelines' International Chorus competitions, winning the gold in 1992, 1996 and 1999. "Wrapped" is a generous Christmas album, featuring three original tunes by Chorus members, "You're All I Want For Christmas," "Hush Little Children, Do," and "Christmas Shopping Blues." Included are guest appearances by Rumors, Rhythmix, Kindred Spirits, The Gina Williams Trio and The Texas Girl Choir. There are 16 tunes, familiar songs like "Sing We Noel," "Patapan," "Happy Holidays," "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Feast of Lights," "Joy to the World" and "Auld Lang Syne," And lesser known ones like "Old Man's Back In Town," "Jingle Bell Jazz," "Mary Did You Know," "One Small Child" and the hilarious (if in questionable taste) "Pretty Dolly." There's a nice variety in the mix of the powerful chorus, the smaller quartets and soloists here. Some light accompaniment on a few cuts. Songlist: Sing We Noel, Patapan, You're All I Want for Christmas, Happy Holidays / Holiday Season, Hush Little Children, Do, Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town, Old Man's Back In Town, Pretty Dolly, Jingle Bell Jazz, Christmas Shoppin' Blues, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Auld Lang Syne, Feast of Lights, Joy to the World, Mary, Did You Know?, One Small Child Various Artists : A Cappella Christmas Party Compilation release featuring the top names in a cappella, including the Persuasions, Real Group, Nylons, Bobs and Rockapella. Every track on this sixteen song CD is strong, encompassing the traditional (Blenders' "First Noel") to the novel (The Bobs' "Christmas In L.A."). World jazz group SoVoSo contributes the soulful original "Snowflakes," while French-Canadians La Bande Magnetik take on Tchaikovsky's "Dance Of The Sugar-Plum Fairy" in an unconventional interpretation. Beachfront Property's "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" and Vox One's "White Christmas" will thrill those who enjoy vocal jazz, as both are a virtual primer on the how-to's of the style. You will want to add this CD to your own holiday music collection, and it also makes a wonderful stocking stuffer or hostess gift!
