Commissioned by the National ACDA Junior High/Middle School Honor Choir 2001, this is a joyous and challenging work for a young choir. The words by California poet Gabriel Navar speak in beautiful imagery of nature and the joy of living. Basler's accessible writing makes this a fine festival or competition piece. In Spanish with easy phonetic line inset in the score. Moderately difficult.
Composer: Paul Basler

With its limited ranges and the vocal line supported by the accompaniment, this is the ideal TTB work for the middle and high school male choir. With references to Walt Whitman's "Song of the Open Road," the text encourages the young spirit to explore the journey of life. A fine selection for festival or competition use; moderately difficult. Lynne Gackle Choral Series.

Here is the SATB version of this wonderful, spirited work - one of last year's big hits in its TTB version! The limited ranges, diatonic harmonies, and a vocal line supported by the accompaniment helps make this work ideal for all levels of SATB choirs.

An incredibly dynamic work for treble choir, On the Strangest Sea is a unique setting of a well-loved text by Emily Dickinson. A driving piano accompaniment, interesting violin part, and beautifully crafted vocal lines make this a great option for a concert centerpiece. Your singers will appreciate the sentiment of the work and the variety of texture in the vocal writing. Lynne Gackle Choral Series.
Composer: Daniel J. Hall
This highly artistic work for SSAA choir by Mari Esabel Valverde will be a particularly good choice for winter programs. The melody is passed from altos to sopranos, then shared, and the piano supports it all with sounds of snow and wind in steady rhythms. Very sophisticated in musical content and theme, this will work best for high school choirs and above.
Composer: Mari Esabel Valverde
Serenade italienne is an invitation for a rendezvous on the sea beneath the stars. The scene is colored by a spiraling piano accompaniment and largely homophonic vocal lines. Valverde makes the most of Chausson's music in this lovely setting. A great choice for high school and collegiate TTBB choirs.

Tom Shelton's arrangement of this beloved bluegrass song will offer a rich experience for singers and audiences. May be performed with piano only or with the additional traditional bluegrass instrumentation. An option for combining two choirs of differing levels makes this a versatile work. Tremendously fun!

A Child's Garden of Verses is a lovely set of songs with texts by Robert Louis Stevenson. In The Swing, rising and falling melodicÊ lines and airy accompaniment express the exhiliration found in swinging. Vocally accessible for young singers, but sophisticated enough for older choirs, as well.
