All Christians, but not affiliated with any denomination, the Singers were founded in 1994 in South Florid a by Ronald Boender and grew from a dozen singers to their current 32 mixed voices. Their trademark 8-part arrangements and close, challenging harmonies are featured on 8 CDs of both sacred and secular music. "God Bless America" includes 5 patriotic and folk songs, Woody Guthrie's "This Land," four arranged by Derric Johnson, "Give Me Your Tired," "We The People" and "God Bless The USA." Also included are the spirituals "Set Down Servant," "Witness," "All My Trials" with a lovely solo by Mary Jane Vanden Birge, and the deeply-felt "Benediction" by Robert C. Clatterbuck. Founded in 1965, the Cincinnati Boychoir presents its own concert series and performs 40 times a year for symphonies, television, community organizations, churches, weddings, clubs and retirement homes. "America Sings" features 18 songs, some accompanied by piano, flute and organ. Our favorites are the spirituals "Great Day!," "Run to Jesus," "Deep River" and "I Hear a Voice Callin' for Me," "Variations on America" and "I Hear America Singing." Others are Irving Berlin's "God Bless America," "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever." James Dana's "My Tent Beside the Oregon," "When Can I Read My Title Clear" and the American folk tune "My Shepherd Will Supply My Need" are also very fine. Songs of patriotism and inspiration were always part of Fred Waring's broadcasts and stage shows. By popular request, Songs of Freedom was compiled from recordings in their collection. Selections include John Philip Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever," "Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor" from Miss Liberty by Irving Berlin and "Battle Hymn Republic," which was made popular by Roy Ringwald's arrangement and won a gold record. Also included is Fred Waring's "love song for America," "My America." Waring wrote the song for his bicentennial shows in 1975.

The 138-strong, white-uniformed New Tradition Chorus was formed in 1982 as a performance and competition chorus, directed by Jay Giallombardo (who also does most of their arrangements), with the goal of becoming the best male chorus in the world. Beginning in 1987, when they placed 4th in SPEBSQSA's International Chorus competition, they medaled every year since then, including winning the gold medal in Nashville in 2001. Voices of Liberty : A Cappella Americana   

Derric Johnson is the director of the 'Voices Of Liberty,' the ten-voice ensemble that performs at Walt Disney World. This collection, featuring the Voices themselves, is as unabashedly and straightforwardly patriotic as it is possible to be, with songs such as 'This Land Is Your Land,' 'America, The Beautiful' and 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic' on the set list. The CD's opener, 'Golden Dream,' is the musical equivalent of a twelve-gun salute, if for nothing other than its finale, which climbs up the scale chromatically to dizzying heights. The challenging arrangements and the virtuosity of the performances - excellent across the board - are a complement to the sometimes grave lyrical content, which emphasizes all-American values with unmitigated confidence. Whatever one's opinions on that score, musically 'A Cappella Americana' is great.

"Spirit of Freedom" has received critical acclaim in all the major publications (Fanfare, American Record Guide, etc.) Several of the tracks have been featured on a PBS series called "Freedom: A History of US." In addition, those same tracks have been featured on a soundtrack recording and companion anthology released by SONY records. Gothic's original recording "The Spirit of Freedom" is the best anthology available of patriotic songs and the only complete recording containing all four verses of the Star Spangled Banner.
