Her voice has been described as "a weapon of great caliber for minds and hearts" and "one of the strongest on the scene". Terri believes that her strongest asset is her combination of Classical training and years of experience as a Blues and R&B singer. She has experienced the "best of both worlds", and knows that her knowledge and experience are extremely valuable in teaching young students, who are aspiring for a professional career.
Terri graduated cum Laude from North Texas State University, majoring in Vocal Performance on a full academic scholarship, and after graduating NTSU, was accepted and attended the Juilliard School of Music. She moved to Los Angeles and sang in many Blues and R&B bands and performed at the Monterey Bay Blues Festival, the Catalina Blues Festival, House of Blues, BB King's Blues Club, and countless concert venues.
Terri is also an accomplished songwriter and has three CD's of original material to her credit, as well as a fourth CD of Classical songs. Her songwriting ranges from Jazz, Smooth Jazz, R&B, and Blues, writing strong melodies, rich chords, and a definite groove.
Now living in Nashville, she often shares the stage with the band members of Martina McBride, Lee Ann Womack, Clint Black, Taylor Swift, Donna Summer, and the Allman Brothers. She is a voting member of the Recording Academy (The Grammy's).

Review: Many of young women who come to Terri Brinegar for vocal lessons aspire to be a professional R&B and pop singer. Often, they know little of what is actually involved, how hard the work is, and how important it is to be a good musician and bandleader. Many may have entered the competitive world of music blindly, with very little guidance to aid them along the way. This book and its accompanying CD present Terri's unique approach to vocal technique, musicianship, gigging, working with a band, stage performance techniques, and much more. In Vocal and Stage Essentials for the Aspiring Female R&B Singer Brinegar shares with her extensive stage experience, her success as a bandleader to some of the greatest musicians in the world, her skills as a musician and songwriter, her training in classical voice, and her years as a vocal coach. Brinegar believes a strong foundation of vocal technique is necessity to success in any style of singing. She is probably one of the few teachers with both a classical background and years of stage experience singing blues and R&B. While there are many books on technique, few, if any, have been written with Brinegar's broad and comprehensive take on the contemporary music industry.
