The master arranger of spirituals has created a special rendering of this beloved piece. It has a glorious ending, making it a great closer for a concert or a stunning addition to church repertoire.
Composer: Stacey V. Gibbs
Inspired by the Joseph Jennings arrangement of this same tune for Chanticleer, Shawn combines the five syllable halleluia with this timeless melody of the old spiritual. A true gospel piano part, for years improvised by the arranger and now written down along with an optional coda for any choir blessed with a great gospel soloist, this is a concert closer of the highest order.
Arranger: Shawn Kirchner
This spiritual setting is ideal for honor choirs, festivals and advanced groups from high school and up. It is highlighted by rich syncopated and polyrhythmic sections, and the use of divisi male chorus is reminiscent of quartet singing. Thrilling!
Arranger: Robert Townsend
Now for treble choir! Inspired by the Joseph Jennings arrangement of this same tune for Chanticleer, Shawn combines the five syllable Halleluia with the timeless melody of the old spiritual. A true gospel piano part, for years improvised by the arranger and now written down along with an optional coda for any choir blessed with a great gospel soloist. This is a concert closer of the highest order.
Arranger: Shawn Kirchner
Evoking the visions of John the Revelator, this African American spiritual depicts the twelve gates of the city that represents eternal freedom. This arrangement features the traditional as well as original melodic material with triadic harmonies and a percussive and rhythmic accompaniment, building in intensity to the final Hallelu!
Arranger: Rollo Dilworth
