Texas-based Sweet Adelines quartet Symmetry's debut recording is a sumptuous winner, with some very funny stuff ("The Baritone Blues," "The Moment I Saw My Thighs," "Love Potion No. 9" and "Freddie Feel Good and His Funky Little Four-Piece Band," romantic heart-tuggers ("Oh How I Miss You Tonight," "Roses of Yesterday" and "It's a Pity to Say Goodnight)" bluesy tunes ("The Birth of the Blues" and "The Last Blues Song") and upbeat foot-tappers "Take Me to the Land of Jazz," "When My Baby Smiles at Me" and "When My Baby Smiles at Me"). There's lots of favorites here, and a great start for sweet-sounding, very entertaining Symmetry. |
