40 Years" is the 4th CD by the present incarnation of the 32-strong Boychoir, which has a yearly six-concert subscription series in Cincinnati, plus many outreach performances that include appearances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Boys Choir, Honolulu Symphony and many others. 17 songs, all accompanied by organ and piano. Some favorites are Johann Strauss' "On the Beautiful Blue Danube," Johann Roman's "Jubilate Deo," Simon Lindley's "Ave Maria," the lively Argentinian song "Escondido," the lovely "Hamabe No Uta" by Narita and Kitamura, the spiritual "Go Where I Send Thee," the Irish air "Danny Boy," Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria," "The King of Love," a traditional Irish hymn, "Amazing Grace," and a beautiful "Best of Walt Disney" medley. All accompanied of course, but wonderful arrangements and the sweet, clear voices of the boys make each cover seem new. |
