Female Barbershop Chorus

Based in Colorado Springs, CO

The Velvet Hills Chorus has been a chapter of Sweet Adelines International for over 50 years! We currently have over 70 members and are always welcoming new members. We are united in our love of singing 4-part unaccompanied Barbershop harmony. Our Director is Darin Drown. We rehearse each Monday night from 7-10 p.m. and have extra weekend coaching session once a year. The Chorus performs throughout the Pikes Peak Area. We participate regularly in the Rocky Mountain Region 8 Annual Chorus Competition. In the 2019 regional competition the Chorus took 2nd place and earned a wildcard spot to compete in the 2020 Sweet Adelines International Competition.

Our members have many opportunities for learning and improving musical skills during rehearsals and competitions. In the continuing quest for musical excellence, we occasionally bring in nationally renowned coaches (e.g., Peggy Gram, Betty Clipman, Jim Arns, Renee Porzel, Ase Hagerman, Carol Kirkpatrick, Sharon Babb, Marge Bailey).
