Mixed Voice Community Chorus The San Francisco Bach Choir is an auditioned volunteer choir providing the Bay Area with exceptional concerts, singing music of all periods but focused particularly on the music of J.S. Bach, his contemporaries, and predecessors. Founded in 1937, it is one of the oldest continuously performing community choirs in the western United States. The Choir uses a historically informed approach, period instruments, and professional instrumentalists and soloists. Founded - 1937. Ongoing Tryouts. Directed by Magen Solomon. Audition Policy - Vocalizing: using mostly familiar exercises, to discover: What is your comfortable and usable range? What voice part should you sing? What are your best vowels and what strategy can we use to improve the less-good ones? Is your breath working for you? Are there other adjustments we can make to increase the ease and health of your singing, and the flexibility and beauty of your tone?
