Renaissance Street Singers

Community Chorus

Based in New York City, NY

The Renaissance Street Singers of New York, directed by John Hetland, have sung polyphonic music from the late 15th century to the early 17th a cappella on the sidewalks and in the public spaces of New York City. The motivation is love for the music and the wish to share it. Concerts are usually two Sundays a month from 2 to 4 pm, always free.

We sing motets, Psalms, Magnificats, mass sections, hymns, and other sacred music by Guillaume Du Fay, Jean de Ockeghem, Josquin des Prez, Ludwig Senfl, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, William Byrd, Tomas Luis de Victoria, Manuel Cardoso, and their contemporaries.

Founded - 1973.
