Mixed Community Ensemble Jouyssance Early Music Ensemble is an auditioned mixed chamber ensemble specializing in music from prior to 1650. Founded in the 1960s as the Neo-Renaissance Singers, the group holds as its primary mission the presentation of Medieval, Renaissance and early Baroque music in historically informed performances that serve to entertain, inspire and even educate. The group presents three programs a season, with concerts in West Los Angeles and Pasadena, plus occasional community outreach concerts throughout Southern California. The group is supported by grants from the City and County of Los Angeles, as well as other organizations and private donors. Founded - 1967. Auditioned. Directed by Nicole Baker. Audition Policy - Singers need to prepare a simple art song or aria that demonstrates their ability to blend and produce a lyrical tone. The audition will include some sight singing.
