Male Barbershop Chorus

We are a fraternity of Barbershoppers! And what is Barbershop? Simply put, it is men's four-part vocal harmony; an original American art form that continues to be vibrant today! According to the Barbershop Harmony Society, "It is music in a very pure form created with nothing but the human voices coming together to create a rich and satisfying texture that is pleasing to the ears and invigorating to the soul".

The High Mountain Chordsmen is the men's chorus of the Prescott chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Barbershop Harmony Society was founded in 1938 and has grown to include 23,000 members in nearly 800 chapters and 17 Districts in the U.S. and Canada, plus affiliates worldwide.

We are dedicated to learning, teaching, enjoying and performing the unique American art form of men's four part harmony in the Barbershop style. We have been entertaining the people of the Tri-City Area for over 35 years. We have performed at many venues, such as the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center , the historic Elk's Opera House , the Sharlot Hall Museum , and the Prescott Resort . Every year our quartets deliver Singing Valentines to many appreciative (and surprised) lovers!

We have a strong commitment to youth, so in 2009 and 2010 we hosted and joined in with the "Real Men Sing" choral festival at Mile High Middle School. The all day event, in collaboration with local educators, was aimed at young men in local schools, for them to experience the joy of singing and encourage them to join their school choruses. It began in the morning with harmony workshops and concluded with an evening public performance by nearly 100 males singers, ranging in age from 10 to 82!

During December the chapter presents holiday music throughout the Prescott and Prescott Valley areas. We have performed at Acker Night, in local Christmas parades, at Hertitage Park Zoo, and at most senior and assisted living facilities throughout the area. Our schedule for the 2012 Holiday season included 21 performances!
