Male LGBT Chorus Heartland Men's Chorus is Kansas City's gay men's chorus, singing out in Kansas City since 1986. The members of HMC have joined together for the purpose of making music as a not-for-profit, volunteer chorus of gay and gay-sensitive people who are making a positive cultural contribution to the entire community. We are a member of GALA Choruses, the international association of the lesbian and gay choral movement. Founded in 1982, GALA Choruses represents 190 choruses, their 10,000 singers and 750,000 patrons in Australia, Europe, South America, and North America. Founded - 1986. Directed by Joseph P. Nadeau. Heartland Men's Chorus : A Kansas City Legacy Heartland Men's Chorus 2000 release of American Songs and spirituals conducted by Joseph P. Nadeau. The disc includes two pieces commissioned by HMC from Kansas City composers, produced to mark the city's sesquicentennial celebration. Freedom also includes five new commissioned works from composers Mark Hayes and Greg Gilpin, "Freedom Suite: A Medley of Spirituals" and "I Will Stand With You" by Hayes and "Skip to My Lou," "O Shenandoah" and "The Crawdad Song," arranged by Gilpin. Other favorites are a pair of spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan, "This Little Light of Mine" and "Hold On," U2's "MLK," Stephen Sondheim's "Children Will Listen," the Alice Parker-arranged "Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal," Frank Wildhorn's touching, piano & violin-accompanied "Tell My Father," and the final cut, "My Country 'Tis of Thee," accompanied by a quote from Randy Hite, "As a gay man, I claim ALL of America's freedoms as mine.
