Encore's mission is to provide an excellent and accessible artistic environment for older adults, regardless of experience or ability, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under a professional artist. The primary goal of Encore Creativity for Older Adults is to offer our choral program to adults over the age of 55, an underserved population in the arts, throughout the country.

Encore is the nation's largest choral organization for adults over the age of 55. Based in Maryland, Encore has 15 Chorales and 6 Encore ROCKS rock & roll choruses in the metropolitan Baltimore-Washington area, as well as a Chorale in New York City. Encore's newest program, begun in September 2019, is the Sentimental Journey Singers (SJS) for individuals with early-stage Alzheimer's or other memory impairment. To-date, Encore has two SJS locations: Fairfax, VA and Rockville, MD Through Encore's Affiliate Program, Encore also has Chorales in Santa Clarita, CA; Denver, CO; Hudson, OH; and Reading, PA. Encore singers number nearly 2,000 across the country, a number that continues to grow as new programs are added.

Non Audition.

Audition Policy - Accessibility has been the key to Encore's success: There are no auditions to become a member of an Encore program; anyone with a desire may join. Singers do not have to be experienced. The ability to read music is not necessary.
