Childrens Chorus Crystal Children's Choir was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1994. Since then, it has grown into a 1,000 member organization. The choir's mission is to strive for choral music excellence by providing choral music education to children and blending the best of Eastern and Western musical traditions. Founded - 1994. Auditioned. Directed by Jenny Chiang. Audition Policy - Students will be assessed individually in order to enable placement into proper classes according to their levels. Crystal Children's Choir : 10 Years of Singing, Learning and Enjoying Crystal Children's Choir: 10 Years of Singing, Learning and EnjoyingFounded in the SF Bay Area in 1994, and now boasting over 750 choristers of all ages, in 18 classes that rehearse weekly and perform a wide repertoire of choral music. The CCC's cultural mission is blending the best of Eastern and Western musical traditions. Crystal Choir has toured Canada, Hong Kong, Austria, Hungary and both coasts of the US. It has performed at Carnegie Hall, Davies Hall in SF, and has won many awards. The first half of the recording is 9 Eastern songs, such as "Ode to the Eight Stallions," "In a Far Away Land," "The Riddle Song," "Happy Gathering," "Life on the Railway Gang" and "Jasmine." The second half is 10 Western songs, such as "Gloria," Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee," "The Water Is Wide," "Old Joe Clerk," "Amazing Grace" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Some piano and other light accompaniment. Crystal has a bright, spirited sound that lends itself well to this material. An impressive debut CD! The choir's mission is to provide a complete music education for children, strive for choral excellence, and blend the best of Eastern and Western musical traditions. The choir aspires to be a cultural ambassador of children's choral music, especially in the field of Chinese folk songs and newly commissioned works and it has toured Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada and the U.S., performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and Beijing Concert Hall. There are 17 songs here, some accompanied, some favorites are Ko Matsushita's "Ave Regina Coelorum," Zoltan Kodaly's "Hegyi Ejszakak I" (Mountain Night)," Orlando di Lasso's "Echolied," Chen Yi's "The Cataract of Mount Lu," the Chinese folk song "Waiting Through the Night," Rossini's "The Barber of Seville Overture," the traditional Spiritual "Child of God" and Harry Belafonte & Robert Freedman's "Turn the World Around.
