The Humboldt Harmonaires is Eureka California's chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Barbershop is a form of vocal music, which originated in the ragtime era of the early twentieth century and has had a huge influence on popular music. The Society is an international organization of barbershop-style singers, with more than 800 chapters world wide, "leading the cause of encouraging vocal music in our schools and communities." The Humboldt Harmonaires have been a community asset for more than forty-four years on California's North Coast. We sing at festivals, grand openings, the Redwood Coast Jazz Festival, Crabs Baseball season openers, The Humboldt County Fair and other community events. Each year we present two major shows: our Spring Show in Eureka and our Fall Beer and Peanuts Show in both Fortuna and Arcata. Our member quartets make dozens of appearances throughout the area each year. The Humboldt Harmonaires have awarded nearly eleven thousand dollars in college scholarships to talented local high school music students. The $1,000 Scholarship recipient is introduced each year at our Spring Show. Also at the show, local music students are offered a chance to perform for our audience.Click on the link "SEE US" for dates and times of upcoming performances. Why don't you come and be a part of our chorus? |
