Harvard Pro Musica is a classical, community based choral ensemble with a long history in the Greater Boston area. Founded in 1969 by 18 enthusiastic singers, it has been in continuous existence since then and currently includes 60 avocational singers from Harvard, Acton, Ayer, Bolton, Boxboro, Concord, Lancaster, Leominster, Lunenburg, Shirley and other surrounding towns. Harvard Pro Musica performs two major concerts a year, and also appears in smaller ensembles in collaboration with other musicians in our communities. In recent years we have performed with the Nashoba Valley Chorale, the Sounds of Stow, the Concord Band, the Orchestra of Indian Hill, the Bromfield School in Harvard, and the Treble Chorus of New England. We have performed in historic spaces such as the Harvard Historical Society, the First Church, Lancaster (Bulfinch), and Fruitlands Museum. The chorus welcomes new singers in all voice parts. No audition is required. We rehearse Tuesdays from 7:15 to 9:30 in the center of Harvard. The chorus is managed by a volunteer Board comprised of members. About Andy Icochea Icochea, Artistic Director In September 2014 we welcomed Andy Icochea Icochea as our new Artistic Director. Andy is a multi-faceted musician who regularly appears as an orchestral and opera conductor, choral conductor, and accompanist, and whose compositions and arrangements are performed internationally. He has appeared in over 500 concerts in 27 countries and four continents, in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Suntory Hall, Wiener Musikverein and Berliner Konzerthaus. He has served as choral conductor and rehearsal accompanist under Riccardo Muti, Georges Pretre, Adam Fischer, Bernard Haitink and Charles Dutoit. His choruses have performed with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony, the Royal Stockholm Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony.
