Speed of Sound is a long-distance quartet with over sixty years of combined barbershop experience. Although they've been together for about four years, they've already achieved major accomplishments as Sweet Adeline barbershop singers. In the spring of 2012, they won their very first regional contest (Region 14!) with a record score. They followed that up by placing 12th in the world at the 2012 Sweet Adelines international competition in Denver, Colorado, and then 9th at the 2013 international competition in Hawaii, then 2nd at the 2014 international competition in Baltimore. Most recently, they placed FIRST IN THE WORLD at the Sweet Adelines International competition in Vegas! Being a long-distance quartet, Speed of Sound rehearses every three-to-four weeks for an entire weekend. To make sure they don't go crazy rehearsing all weekend long, they set aside their Saturday nights for several fun activities. They like to call it their Saturday Night Slumber Parties...instead of a Girl's Night In, it's a Girl's Weekend Out! Speed of Sound is committed to breaking the barbershop mold with cutting edge arrangements (Ashley's dad is Larry Wright), and they are loving every chord of it! But most of all, their wish is to spread their love for this art form called barbershop. It's important to all four of them that they play a part in keeping barbershop alive and well for the coming generations. It's all about the MUSIC! Awards |
