Voices in Harmony (VIH) was founded in January 2006, and since its beginning, has been under the masterful musical direction of Dr. Greg Lyne. Under his leadership, VIH has rapidly become one of the finest a cappella choruses in the world. In July 2008, it traveled to Nashville, TN, to compete in the annual International Choral Competition of the Barbershop Harmony Society, its professional organization, and achieved a 3rd Place Bronze Medal. The competition pits the top 30 choruses of more than 800 choruses around the world. In August 2009, VIH, along with Pride of the Pacific chorus and international championship quartet Old School, were invited to represent the United States at the 10th Annual Russian Music Festival in St Petersburg, Russia. While there, we had the privilege of conducting masters classes in close harmony to eleven Russian youth ensembles who were selected to participate by the Ministry of the Arts from all over the country. We had the honor of performing at six sold-out concerts at several world-class concert venues, including the Imperial Court Cappella Concert Hall and the Rose Pavilion at Pavlovsk Palace. We also were the first group of American performers to conduct an outdoor concert amongst the fountains at Petergoff, the Summer Palace of Peter the Great, for Russian visitors and tourist from all over the world. In our history of performances, VIH has had the distinct pleasure of sharing the stage with groups such as: The Manhattan Transfer, The Alley Cats, and Clockwork: other a cappella groups such as Bay Area Showcase, Santa Clara University Chamber Singers, and Metropolis; and international championship quartets, such as Realtime (2005) and Old School (2011). We have performed at venues such as the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts, the historic California Theater in San Jose, Bankhead Theater in Livermore, the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, CA. |
