The Mississippi Children's Choir was formed in 1990; comprising some 200 members from across the state, the assembled ranks -- all aged 7 to 17 -- were originally brought together as an opening act for headliners the Mississippi Mass Choir, but were such an immediate hit with audiences that they soon proceeded to record their own LP, 1992's Children of the King. With 1994's A New Creation, the Mississippi Children's Choir introduced featured vocalist Bryan Wilson, who soon after recorded his debut solo album Bryan's Songs. When God's Children Get Together followed in 1998. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

Review: This is the choir's second album which met with great success when first released when it sold nearly 100,000 copies, but it also showcased a new artist, 14-year old Bryan Wilson. Bryan's anointed lead on His Eye is On the Sparrow for the choir led to his first solo album also on Malaco. As a result, both the choir and Bryan captured the 1996-97 Stellar nominations in the same category for Children's Performance of the Year.
Songlist: Come On Children, The Good Samaritan, His Eye Is On The Sparrow, It's Me O Lord, Inside Out, I Love You Jesus, The Caterpillar's Song, Let's Change The World
Review: Jackson Mississippi-based Mississippi Children's Choir has it all-a rocking band that could back up Earth, Wind and Fire or Jimmy Cliff as needed, an appreciative live audience, great new (Contemporary Christian) songs, and youthful joy, energy and spirituality. 8 songs: "Come On Children," the reggae song "The Good Samaritan," "His Eye Is On The Sparrow," "It's Me, O Lord," "Inside Out," "I Love You Jesus," "The Caterpillar's Song," and "Let's Change The World." "A New Creation" is about celebration, dancing in the aisles and the love of Jesus-highly recommended!
Songlist: God Made Me, The Shepherd Song, Twelve Gates, There Is Hope, Blessed Is The One, Child of the King, Thank You Lord, All These Blessings
Review: Based at Anderson United Methodist Methodist Church in Jackson, MS, the Mississippi Children's Choir, with hot soloist Steven Johnson, accompanied by a rocking band, wastes little time getting down on the spiritual "House of the Lord." This CD brings us 11 (accompanied) tunes, many we haven't heard before: "All We Have," "I'm Blessed," "Anointing," "Whiter Than Snow," "The Shepherd Song," "Things Go Better With Christ," "Remember Me," "Joy of My Salvation," "Throne of Mercy," and "O Come Let Us Adore Him (The Little Boy and His Boat)." "When God's Children" has all the spiritual joy and youthful energy you can imagine, the kind that brings you up out of the pew to dance in the aisles and sing along. Wonderful children's art in the liner notes. This is the real thing and highly recommended!
