Dr. P. Bradley Logan, Professor of Music, is the Director of Choral Activities at Bemidji State University, where he conducts the Bemidji Choir and the Chamber Singers, and teaches conducting along with voice. He has served on the faculties of the University of Montevallo, Louisiana College, California State University, Long Beach, and Pelham High School. Dr. Logan holds his B.S. in Vocal Music Education from North Dakota State University, his M.A. in Choral Music from California State University, Long Beach, and his D.M.A. in Choral Conducting and Literature from the University of Illinois. He is Executor of the Edwin R. Fissinger Musical Estate and serves as co-editor of the Edwin Fissinger Choral Series published by Meadowlark Music Publications.
Dr. Logan continues active participation in the American Choral Director's Association presently serving as North Central Division R&S Chair for Youth and Student Activities. For seven years he served on the Minnesota ACDA Board of Directors as Northwestern Area Representative, R&S Chair for College and University, and R&S Chair for Youth and Student Activities. Other ACDA service includes State President, Treasurer and College/University Chair in both Alabama and Louisiana.
Dr. Logan's collegiate choirs have performed at state ACDA conventions in Alabama, Louisiana, and Minnesota, and state MENC conventions in Alabama, Louisiana, Minnesota, and North Dakota, most recently the 2001 and 2006 MMEA Midwinter Convention, the 2006 North Dakota MENC Convention, and the 2001 Minnesota ACDA Fall Convention. ACDA national and division convention performances include the 1992 Southern Division Convention in Savannah, the 1993 National Convention in San Antonio, the 2002 North Central Division Convention in Des Moines, and the 2003 National Convention in New York City.
Logan made his Carnegie Hall debut conducting Rene Clausen's a new Creation on April 15, 2002. He is scheduled to conduct Randall Thompson's Frostiana at Carnegie Hall in April, 2010.
On the international scene, Dr. Logan conducted The Bemidji Choir at the Third International Festival of Choirs in Siena, Italy, June 2001. In May of 2005 Logan served as conductor of the Rothenburg Choral Festival in Rothenburg, Germany, where he directed a festival choir and the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt in a performance of John Rutter's Requiem. During the choir's 2008 tour of England and Scotland, Logan conducted the choir in St. Giles Cathedral (Edinburgh), York Minster Cathedral, Coventry Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral (Oxford), St. Paul's Cathedral (London), and Westminster Abbey (London).
In the spring of 2003 he conducted the BSU Chamber Singers on the Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.
Dr. Logan has been an active teacher of voice for twenty-nine years. His studio has produced numerous winners of state and division NATS competitions as well as prepared students for graduate study at leading conservatories in the United States.
An active career as a guest conductor and lecturer has taken him to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, North Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. Dr. Logan appears in the 1998 Who's Who Among American Teachers, the 1999 edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, the Millennium Edition of Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World 2000.

Bradley Logan, Director of Choral Activities at Bemidji State University, Lake Bemidji, MN, conducts the venerable (founded in 1937) Bemidji Choir and Chamber Singers in "Come Close to Me," their eighth excellent, finely-crafted album in our Singers.com catalog. Favorites among the 20 selections are David Cerwien's lovely "Gloria in Excelsis Deo, Jakob Handl's "O Admirabile Commercium," Antonio Lotti's "Crucifixus," a pair by Z. Randall Stroope, "I Am Not Yours" and "Winter," Eric Whitacre's "Sleep," a pair by Morten Lauridsen, "Soneto de la Noche" and "Sure On This Shining Night" (both from "Nocturnes"), Eric Barnum's "Jenny Kiss'd Me," Musikanten's "Three Kyrie's " and Aaron McDermid's "Come Sing Me to Heaven," and three by the Chamber Singers, "As Long Ago, "As Once We Met" and "Summer Days Are Here," all by Daniel Gawthrop." There is some piano accompaniment. All these songs were recorded at live performances by these talented groups. Review: "There's Room For All is another stellar collection of classic Christian inspirational songs, with a handful of nice secular selections, from Dr. P. Bradley Logan's Bemidji Choir, Women's Chorus, Musikanten and Chamber Singers, from Minnesota's Bemidji State University. Favorite religious tunes are Jacob Handl's "O Magnum Mysterium," Palestrina's "Alma Redemptoris Mater," Roland Martin's "Ave Maria: O Auctrix Vitae," Joshua Nice's "Peace I Leave With You," the traditional "By and By," the Chamber Singers' Exultate Deo" and Jesse Padgett's spiritual "Plenty Good Room." Secular favorites are Kenneth Neufeld's 3 selections from "Twelfth Night," "O Mistress Mine," "Come Away Death" and "I Am Gone, Sir;" Women's Chorus's "Remember," by Donna Schultz, Musikanten's "Ward the Pirate" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the Chamber Singers' "This Marriage," by Eric Whitacre. Review: With an international reputation for excellence going back to its founding in 1937 by Carl O. Thompson, and now under the direction of Dr. P. Bradley Logan, the mixed-voice Choir, Chamber Singers and all-male MusiKanten bring us a rich and varied collection on "Awakening." The Bemidji Choir begins with 7 a cappella religious songs, Gerald Finzi's "My Spirit Sang All Day," Wm. Byrd's "Cantate Domino," Alexander Gretchaninoff's soaring "Our Father," Michael Rue's "Go Lovely Rose," Frank Ticheli's "There Will Be Rest," Brahms' "Schaffe in mir, Gott (Psalm 51)" and "Something Has Spoken to me in The Night." Three dramatic "Shakespeare Songs" by Ralph Vaughan Williams follow, Marie Pooler's lovely "Still With Thee," Joshua Nice's "Words of Love," Joseph Martin's title tune and the rousing spiritual "Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord." The men's chorus MusiKanten gives us a spirited, richly-harmonied a cappella "Drunken Sailor," and then are four pieces from the Chamber Singers, including Jan Sweelinck's beautiful "Chantez a Dieu nouvelle (Psalm 96)," Monteverdi's "Ah Dolente Partita," John Farmer's "Fair Phyllis I Saw," and Thomas Morley's "I Love, Alas, I Love Thee." "Awakening" shows off the rich a cappella vocal talents of these three veteran, well-directed ensembles, and it is a joy to listen to throughout!

Review: Founded in Minnesota in 1937, the 39-strong mixed-voice Bemidji Choir has been directed since 1998 by the renowned Dr. P. Bradley Logan, who also directs the BSU Chamber Singers, a 14-voice ensemble chosen by audition from the Choir. On "Beneath" we hear 6 songs by the full choir, 8 by the Chamber Singers and then 7 more by the choir. Sacred music like Peter Phillips' "Surgens Jesus," Johann Michael Bach's "Sei, lieber Tag, wilkommen," "The Lamb" and "The Tiger" by Eric Barnum, "Come, Love We God," and "Hark, Hark What News the Angels Bring" coexist nicely with traditional and folk music like Edwin Fissinger's "Nelly Bly," "This Endris Night" and "Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair," Bob Chilcott's "The Gift to be Simple" and Jonathan Quick's "Loch Lomond." Sweet, beautiful music that touches the heart, sung with feeling by the wonderfully-led Bemidji Choir!

Review: Pride of Bemidji, Minnesota, home of Bemidji State University, the 65-strong, mixed-voice Bemidji Choir, the men's chorus Musikanten and the elite 14-16 strong Chamber Singers brings us their 7th beautiful recording, directed by Professor of Music P. Bradley Logan. Founded in 1937 by Carl O. Thompson, the ensemble has toured extensively and gained a national and international reputation for excellence. Most of these 22 selections, 14 by the Choir, 2 by Musikanten and 6 by the Chamber Singers, are sacred tunes like John Beck's "Gloria," Orlando Gibbons' "Hosanna to the Son of David," Georg Schumann's soaring "Herr, wie lang," Edwin Fissinger's spiritual "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel," and the traditional "Mary Had a Baby." "Die Rose stand im Tau" and "Dulaman" by Musikanten and Tchaikovsky's "The Crown of Roses," Robert Young's "Herself is a Rose Who Bore the Rose," and John Joubert's "There is No Rose of Such Virtue" by the Chamber Singers are all favorites. Another fine collection by one of America's best choirs.

Review: Founded in 1937 by Carl O. Thompson, the 41-strong, mixed-voice Choir, comprised of undergraduate students at Bemidji (MN) State University, has earned an international reputation for excellence. Touring internationally every three years, representing the US in international choral festivals like "The Europa Cantat," the Choir regularly appears at local and national ACDA conventions. Included on "Love like Spring" are 16 cuts by the whole Choir, and 5 by the Choir's elite Chamber Singers. Particularly nice are Palestrina's "Alma Redemptoris Mater," Robert Kreutz' powerful, surprising "Spring Grass," "Silent, O Moyle," and four "Songs of Innocence" by Earl George, "Piping Down the Valleys Wild," "The Shepherd," "Infant Joy" and "Laughing Song." By the Chamber Singers, we really liked Thomas Morley's "Shoot False Love, I Care Not" and "April Is In My Mistress' Face," and the harmonious "Of the Father's Love Begotten." "Love like Spring" is a joy from start to finish!

Review: The 42-strong, mixed voice Bemidji (MN) Choir, founded in 1937, has a well-deserved reputation for excellence. Comprised of undergraduate students at Bemidji State University, and directed by Dr. P. Bradley Logan, the choir has represented the U.S. in international choral festivals, toured extensively and appeared at numerous ACDA national and regional conventions. "O Light of Light" features the Choir and two elite groups within it, the Men's Chorus, who sing Paul Brandvik's "Shall I Compare Thee To a Summer's Day" and "Your Love Surrounds Me" by Andrew Miller, and the Chamber Singers have 6 pieces, including Edwin Fissnger's "Adoro Te Devote," two by Wm. Hawley, "Vita de la Mia Vita" and "Ore, Fermate Il Volo," and Eric Barnum's "She Walks In Beauty." 26 songs in total, all a cappella. Some favorites are the four "Quatre Motets Sur Des Themes Gregoriens," by Durufle, the title cut, by David White, Moses Hogan's "This Little Light of Mine," Jean Berger's "Glory Be To God," Eric Whitacre's lovely "I Will Wade Out," the traditional songs "Little Potato" and "Honor, Honor" and the Wm. Dawson-arranged spiritual "Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit." A varied and beautiful collection of sacred and traditional Christian music from the spirited and talented collegiate singers of the Bemidji Choir!
