Lew Sarett's dramatic poem Wind in the Pine provides an abundance of aural and visual imagery that is evocative of the spiritual power and transcendent beauty available to us in nature. Composer Jonathan Shippey has provided a sensitive setting of the poem, in which he enhances the text's open, outdoor quality through the sounds of treble voices, piano, chime tree and rainstick.
