Dr. Rob Campbell joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 1971 at the age of 16 and has served the society in many capacities over the years. He is current Chairman of the Lou Perry Scholarship Fund, a special project that funds two arranging scholarships each year to Harmony University. Rob has been a judge since 1988 and is past Music Category Specialist 2005-2007, which includes three years on the Society Contest and Judging Committee. He has judged the BHS International Contest seven times. He served six years on the Publications Subcommittee that chooses, edits and publishes society arrangements. He has fifteen published arrangements to his credit, and many others unpublished. Rob coaches and judges for Harmony, Inc. and has made judging, teaching and coaching visits to BHS affiliates SNOBS (Sweden), BinG! (Germany), NZABS (New Zealand), BABS and LABBS (Britain) and AAMBS (Australia). He has been the BHS Music Category representative at the last two BABBS/LAABS judging recertification schools, and has served as Dean of their Director's College. Past positions include Director of the International Champion West Towns Chorus from Lombard IL, 1988-1990 (became director after they won). Associate Director of the Sun Harbor Chorus from San Diego CA, 1990-1993, earning a chorus bronze medal. Associate Director of the New Tradition Chorus from Northbrook, ILL from 1994-1996, earning two chorus silver medals. Director, the Bay Are Metro Chorus, 2003 - 2006. Three-time NorCal West chorus champions and district finalists. Currently performing member of the Masters of Harmony, eight-time International chorus champions. Recently earned a gold medal in Kansas City. Rob has been in numerous quartets over the years, starting with the Four Speed Voice Band, his high school quartet. He has sung in quartets in the ILL, NED and FWD districts. He was a quartet District Champion of the NED with The Varsity's Quad, and has won divisional quartet championships in the NED (Top Priority, 1981) and FWD (Coast to Coast, NorCal West, 19 |
