DAVID T. R. ALBULARIO Music Director Emeritus Mr. Albulario entered the ranks of The All-American Boys Chorus at the age of 9.During his seven-year tour of duty as a singer and section leader, he participated in concert tours throughout the continental United States and Canada, as well as overseas in Austria, Romania and what was then the Soviet Union.In 1991 David joined the Chorus's staff as assistant conductor, implementing a unique program for the holidays that incorporates hand-bell ringing with the boys' choral performances.In 1992 David was appointed music director. Mr. Albulario graduated as an honors vocal soloist from Mater Dei High School, Santa Ana, Calif.He was awarded the prestigious MACY trophy in the category of best supporting actor for his portrayal of Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys & Dolls.He was a member of the celebrated Consort Singers and of the men's chorus of Loyola Marymount University, and studied under the baton of Maestro Paul Salumonovich, Los Angeles Master Chorale music director.He has performed with the University Singers and Chamber Singers of California State University, Fullerton, under Dr. Vance Wolverton and Mr. John Alexander of the Pacific Chorale.He has trained the children's choruses for Opera Pacific, the William Hall Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.In 1998, as part of the Philippine Centennial Celebration, he was cited as one of the 10 outstanding Filipino-Americans for his work in performing arts. Mr. Albulario is an accomplished theatrical performer as well, with a roster of roles that includes Fagin in Lionel Bart's Oliver!, Danforth in Arthur Miller's The Crucible, The Tenor in the PDQ Bach spoof cantata The Seasonings, Dr. Van Helsing in the comedy-parody Dracula-The Musical? and Benjamin in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. After serving The All-American Boys Chorus with great distinction for a decade, Mr. Albulario left the organization in August 2002 to pursue a career as a vocal musician and theater artist. (He's now living in New York City.) His designation as music director emeritus is more than a polite formality. |
