Jo is currently a member of The Swingles based in London, UK. She studied voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and discovered her love of ensemble singing during her time with the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Jo is also a session singer, providing vocals for several movie soundtracks including Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, The Hobbit, Wonder Woman, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunger Games, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Jurassic World. Jo is a lifelong fan of The Real Group and used to travel to college listening to "Jazz: Live", "Nothing but The Real Group" and "Commonly Unique"! Finally performing with them at the London A Cappella Festival in 2014 was a particular highlight for her, and it was an honour to be at the 2012 The Real Group Festival. In workshops, Jo likes to focus on ensemble and phrasing, and the connection with the lyrics. She likes to explore how movement and position can influence a performance. She also encourages performers to self-analyse as a group or as a soloist in order to find the balance between habit vs choice. To be aware of why we do certain things when we perform, and why we choose the pieces that we do. Member of Swingle Singers - Soprano |
