The 160-plus men who form "America's Premier Pops Chorus" are all volunteers, performing purely for the love of music, ably led by acclaimed director and primary arranger Jim Clancy. The VMC has, of course, won numerous SPEBSQSA Chorus Gold Medals since 1975 and has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Here are 15 of the most beautiful love songs ever recorded. We hear the smooth, lush sounds of this legendary chorus in never-before-released cuts of "The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" and "In The Still of the Night." There are new recordings of "How Deep is the Ocean," "Jimmy Webb Medley" (Didn't We/MacArthur Park), and "For Once in My Life." The others are selections from the VMC's 11 CDs. 4, including "When I Fall in Love," "No Arms Can Ever Hold You," "Antonio Carlos Jobim Medley" and "Moonlight Serenade, are orchestrally accompanied. Perfect phrasing, ringing harmonies, tremendous feeling--the judges are right, these guys are the best! Recommended. |
