"A Time to Cherish is a lovely a cappella Christmas collection from The University of Louisville (KY), Cardinal Singers, which was founded in 1970. The 45-strong, mixed-voice ensemble has gained a reputation for excellence under Dr. Hatteburg, from International competitions in Europe, symposiums in Japan, to ACDA Conventions in the US. There are 22 finely-crafted songs here, from traditional carols like "Ding Dong! Merrily on High," "Carol of the Bells," "Angels from the Realms of Glory," "Away in a Manger," "I Saw Three Ships," "Coventry Carol," "Deck the Hall" and "Joy to the World" to less familiar material, Herbert Howells' "A Spotless Rose," Arvo Part's "Bogoroditse Djevo," Elizabeth Poston's "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," Juris Vaivods' Ti Divam Duorgi Laiki," Frank Martin's "Sanctus," Ralph Vauhan Williams' "The Blessed Son," and the Paul Brandvik-arranged "Lulajze, Jezuniu." |
