Long Island-based, mixed-voice Doo-Wop quintet (3 men, 2 women) Champagne, formed in 1995. Leader, founder and music arranger Chuck Chuck Arcuri sings baritone and lead; Joe Bell sings lead, baritone and second tenor; Christina Corallo, known as "the Pipes" of Champagne, sings lead, first and second tenor; Jennifer Mikell sings lead and first tenor and Don Rafael is the bass man of the group. There are 18 finely-crafted tunes here, some favorites would be "The ABCs of Love," "Please Mr. Disc Jockey," "I'm So Happy," "Higher and Higher" and "Smoke From Your Cigarette" featuring Christine singing lead; "The Sun's Message," "Little Girl of Mine," "Zoom" and "When We Get Married" with Joe on lead; and "Angel Baby" and "You," with Jennifer singing lead. Champagne has a lot of vocal talent, a nice clean sound and excellent arrangements-all of which makes "An Acappella Toast" a very tasty Doo-Wop treat! |
