Founded in Toronto in 1987, the Bach Children's Chorus is made up of 190 children and youth from throughout the greater Toronto region. It performs three full concerts per season and appears as a guest choir in many Toronto events. "The Dream Ship" is the sixth CD to be released by the BCC, directed by award-winning Founder and Artistic Director Linda Beaupre. There are 22 lovely, all accompanied tunes here, and many favorites, performed by parts of the BCC and the Bach Chamber Youth Choir, separately and together: Malcolm Dalglish's "Sail Away," Eleanor Daley's soaring title tune, John Rutter's "For the Beauty of the Earth," John Berger's "Oh! Spring (The Caterpillar)," the Spiritual "If I Got My Ticket," the Kentucky folk song "Bright Morning Star," the Chain gang song "Rainbow Round my Shoulder," "Careers Medley," Mary Lynn Lightfoot's "A Jubilant Song," Stewart Stott's "Music in My Mother's House," Z. Randall Stroope's "Inscription of Hope" and Oscar Peterson's "Hymn to Freedom." The Choir has a sweet, soaring sound that fits perfectly with the upbeat, innocent, inspirational material. Take a ride on "The Dream Ship," and enjoy! |
