Something Major A Cappella started about seven years ago when a small group of students on the University of New Mexico campus felt inspired to start Albuquerque's first collegiate a cappella group. Since then, the group has grown to include nearly 20 people, all of whom have a passion for singing, but who also come from a wide variety of backgrounds and fields of study. Nearly every piece we perform has been composed by our own members, including songs from contemporary to jazz with a few unique pieces in between. We frequently perform on the UNM campus, but also for many other local Albuquerque events. We encourage our members (and those around us) to embrace music, and we challenge ourselves to become better musicians. We are dedicated to musical integrity and appreciation, technique, musicianship, and performance while also ensuring that a little piece of ourselves goes into every song we create. |
