The opening pages of the composition feature the soprano section, first in unison supported by the organ, followed by the rest of the choir providing an angelic a cappella accompaniment support to the tune. By the ending verse, the men's voices have a few measures with the melody, the altos and soprano divisi providing the angelic soundscape. All voices merge to unison for the final, fading phrase.
