Marty Hamby is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was reared in a Christian home, and accepted Christ at an early age. As a teen-ager, he surrendered his life to full-time ministry, and later served his home church, Woodland Park Baptist, as minister of music. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Music. For many years, he served on the music staff of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. Following the birth of twin daughters in 1998, he returned to Tennessee and worked as a free-lance musical arranger with several Christian music publishers in Nashville. During this time, he also served in area churches as interim minister of music, or part-time orchestra director. Marty is excited to once again serve in full-time church ministry. He and his family love the mountains and are thrilled to be a part of First Baptist, Roanoke. He joined our staff in August of 2011, as Associate Minister of Music and Worship. |
