The Diptones

The DipTones is a six member a cappella vocal ensemble formed in 1986 to recreate the "doo-wop" sound that was heard during the 1950's and 60's on street corners of cities like New York and Chicago. Since then, The DipTones have expanded the repertoire to include our unique vocal arrangements and style in a wide range of musical types and sounds. We have performed at numerous concerts, festivals, sporting events, conferences, and conventions around the Southeast. We've appeared on several radio and television programs and have released two recordings on compact disc. The DipTones are all classically-taught singers with musical experience in rock, jazz, choral, opera, and show music. By day, these six singers occupy themselves as an architect, piano technician, artist, music teacher, history teacher, and choral director. By nights, they are one of Alabama's favorite and highly-sought musical acts.
