Jerold Don Ottley was the music director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1974 to 1999. His duties with the choir included the preparation and performance of nearly thirteen hundred weekly radio and television broadcasts of Music and the Spoken Word. He also led the choir in more than thirty commercial recordings and more than twenty major tours, in addition to regular concerts in the choir's home in the Salt Lake City tabernacle.
Early in his career, Dr. Ottley was a teacher and conductor in the schools and churches of Salt Lake City. Just prior to his appointment with the Tabernacle Choir, he taught on the music faculty at the University of Utah and served as the assistant chair of the music department. Since his retirement, he has been involved in volunteer work for four years as administrator and teacher for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Training School at Temple Square, as a Tabernacle Choir staff volunteer revising the choral library computer database, as artistic advisor to the Salt Lake Interfaith Roundtable, and as a lay bishop for a congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From 2005 to 2008, he directed the University Chorale at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, a LDS church-owned university in the town of Laie on Oahu's north shore.

Review: The Mormon Tabernacle Choir presents Hallelujah: Great Choral Classics, a recording of spiritual anthems that features several excellent composers and some of their best music. Highlights include Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus," the traditional "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and Puccini's "Humming Chorus." These are all performed with the typical gusto and beauty that the choir is known for. Fans of choral music may want to search this out, this is another excellent performance from this group.
Songlist: Hallelujah Chorus, Ave verum corpus, K618, Thanks be to God, Humming Chorus, Zadok the Priest, Psalm 150, Va, pensiero, Hallujah, Come, Come, Ye Saints, Simple Gifts, Deep River, The Battle Hymn of the Republic
Review: "America's Choir" began their musical journey in 1847, singing hymns and sacred music, accompanied by the massive Tabernacle organ. These 360 singers, accompanied by an 110-strong orchestra, have in recent years, lent their magnificent sound to recordings of patriotic music, tunes from Broadway musicals and now a musical tribute to master cartoon and movie creator Walt Disney. These 10 songs, from "When You Wish Upon a Star"/"Hi Diddle-Dee-Dee" medley and "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" to "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "Some Day My Prince Will Come," are as beautifully arranged and sung as we have every heard them. Listen to "Whistle While You Work"/Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho!" medley, and we are taken back to all the joy and amazement we felt when we first experienced "Snow White," Disney's first animated feature. "Star" is a nostalgic, touching winner from beginning to end!
Songlist: When You wish Upon A Star / Hi Diddle Dee Dee, Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf, A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly!, Zip A Dee Doo Dah, Love Is A Song, Whistle While You Work / Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho!, Some Day My Prince will Come, Spoonful Of Sugar / Chim Chim Cheree / Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
