Founded in 1986, LACC has over 240 choristers in 5 choirs: Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Intermediate, Apprentice and Preparatory Choirs. Their repertoire includes classical works, gospel, spiritual and folk songs, jazz pieces and pieces commissioned for the Chorus. They have sung with the LA Philharmonic, LA Master Chorale, LA Chamber Orchestra and LA Opera, and have toured extensively in the US, Canada, Europe and South America. This collection of 19 songs features all but the Preparatory Choir variously in 4 "Sounds of" groups: "Joy and Love," "Many Lands and People," "Praise" and "Celebrations." Monteverdi's "Chioma d'oro," the Israeli folksong "Dodi-Li," the French folksong "Une Poule Blanc," Bencini's "Alleluia, Ascendit Deus," the spiritual "My Lord, What a Morning," Bach's "Bereite dich, Zion," and Debussy's "Noel des enfants" are among many favorites. "Soundscapes" is a poised, masterful collection by one of America's finest childrens' choruses. All songs are accompanied, at least lightly. |
