The Big Chicken Chorus offers top entertainment value, with great songs and medleys such as "It's A Good Day," "Beer Barrel Polka" and "How Do I Get Out Of This Chicken Outfit" medley. Including the members of 1999 Quartet Champs Fred, whose Clay Hine is director of this band of barnyard barbershoppers, the Chorus placed third in Anaheim. Some of the arrangements, such as "I Can't Give You Anything But Love/L-O-V-E" and the "Jungle Book Medley," are a virtual comic revue, with patter, exaggerated phrasing and silly word play; however, when it's time to get serious - read: sentimental - the Chorus knows how to straighten up and fly, well, right. "Georgia," and "Old Folks At Home" are restrained, stately and graceful. |
