Mixed-voice Crystal Children's Choir was founded in the San Francisco in 1994, and since then has grown into a 1,000-chorister organization. The choir's mission is to provide a complete music education for children, strive for choral excellence, and blend the best of Eastern and Western musical traditions. The choir aspires to be a cultural ambassador of children's choral music, especially in the field of Chinese folk songs and newly commissioned works and it has toured Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada and the U.S., performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and Beijing Concert Hall. There are 17 songs here, some accompanied, some favorites are Ko Matsushita's "Ave Regina Coelorum," Zoltan Kodaly's "Hegyi Ejszakak I" (Mountain Night)," Orlando di Lasso's "Echolied," Chen Yi's "The Cataract of Mount Lu," the Chinese folk song "Waiting Through the Night," Rossini's "The Barber of Seville Overture," the traditional Spiritual "Child of God" and Harry Belafonte & Robert Freedman's "Turn the World Around. Beautiful music from the Bay Area's own CCC, one of our favorite children's choirs! |
