'He is Born' is fun to sing, with varied textures and has a great variety of compositional techniques. 'My Dancing Day' is a popular old English text and carol, perfect for High school choir Christmas concerts or church choir. It has a variety of contrasts and vocal colors. 'O Holy Child' is a lovely, original carol with lilting "Alleluia" refrains and contrasting introspective verses. Thought provoking textual imagery. Basically two musical ideas (refrain and verse) repeated several times. It is koyful to learn, rewarding to perform and requires flexibility and sensitivity from the singers. 'This Night Did God Become a Child' is a 3-stanza homophonic setting with syncopated "Alleluias" and antiphonal-echo effects. In 'There Is No rose of Such Virtue,' arching melodic line and warm harmonies join hands in the elegantly simple setting for the Christmas season. Laubengayer's arrangement of 'Silent Night' has the traditional text set to a new tune.
