Olaf Christiansen's years as conductor of the St. Olaf Choir spanned some 27 years. He joined his father F. Melius Christiansen, founder of the choir, as co-director in 1941, and in 1943 became the sole conductor, a position he held until his retirement in 1968. This two-disc CD provides a sampling of music taken from restored recordings dating 1950 to 1968. The first disc contains music from the latter 1960s; the second, mostly from the 1950s |
