Frank Albinder

Grammy Award-winning conductor and singer Frank Albinder currently directs the Washington Men's Camerata, the Virginia Glee Club at the Univesity of Virginia and the Woodley Ensemble. A native of Hollywood, California, Mr. Albinder hold degrees from Pomona College and the New England Conservatory of Music.

Like most musicians, he has held a number of non-musical jobs, including counter man in a delicatessen, secret document destroyer for a major military contractor, tour guide at Universal Studios and problem-fixer for FedEx. He was Director of Choral Activities at Davidson College in the mid-1980s, and for 11 years, he was singer, associate conductor and finally, acting director of Chanticleer, the world-renowned vocal ensemble.

During his tenure with the group, Mr. Albinder performed in all 50 states and in 20 foreign countries. He appears on 20 of the ensemble's recordings, including Wondrous Love, which was recorded under his direction, and the Grammy Award-winning Colors of Love, for which he designed the concept and selected the repertoire.

Jerry Blackstone

GRAMMY Award winning conductor Jerry Blackstone is Director of Choirs and Chair of the Conducting Department at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance where he conducts the Chamber Choir, teaches conducting at the graduate level, and administers a choral program of eleven choirs. In February 2006, he received two GRAMMY Awards ("Best Choral Performance" and "Best Classical Album") as chorusmaster for the critically acclaimed Naxos recording of William Bolcom's monumental Songs of Innocence and of Experience. In 2006, the Chamber Choir performed by special invitation at the inaugural convention of the National Collegiate Choral Organization in San Antonio, and in 2003, the Chamber Choir presented three enthusiastically received performances in New York City at the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). In addition to Professor Blackstone's choral conducting work at the University, he has led operatic productions with the University of Michigan Opera Theatre, including productions of Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen and Strauss's Die Fledermaus. For his significant contributions to choral music in Michigan, he received the 2006 Maynard Klein Lifetime Achievement Award from the ACDA-Michigan chapter.

Stephen Cleobury

Stephen Cleobury has been Organist and Director of Music at King's College, Cambridge since 1982, and, since 1983, conductor of the orchestra and chorus of the Cambridge University Musical Society. He received his early musical education at Worcester Cathedral, and was later Organ Student at St John's College, Cambridge, under George Guest. Before going to King's he was successively Organist at St Matthew's, Northampton, Sub-Organist at Westminster Abbey and Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral.

Under his direction King's College Choir Cambridge continues the daily singing of chapel services during term time - the raison d'etre of the choir - and maintains a busy schedule of concerts, tours, recordings and broadcasts. It is, perhaps, most famous for the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols which is heard each Christmas Eve throughout the English-speaking world and beyond. Recent appearances include concerts in Bermuda, New York, Washington, Cologne and Paris.

Rosalind Hall

Rosalind Hall is the current director of the BYU Men's Chorus and BYU Concert Choir.

Hall is a native of Wales. She was educated at the University of London, the University of Edinburgh and London's Royal Academy of Music. She received a bachelors of music degree from the Royal Academy in 1977.

Hall came to the US in 1989 to study at Brigham Young University (BYU). While she was a grad student she also directed the BYU Women's Chorus. Hall received her Masters of music degree in 1993 from BYU. From 1992-1999 she was chair of the music department at Waterford School. She has been the director of the BYU Men's Chorus and Concert Choir since Mack Wilberg became an assistant director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the fall of 1999. In addition to conducting these two choirs at BYU, Hall teaches undergraduate courses in choral conducting and graduate courses in choral literature at the BYU College of Fine Arts and Communications.

Diane Loomer

Diane Loomer, C.M., is founder and conductor of Chor Leoni Men's Choir and co-founder and co-conductor of Elektra Women's Choir; she has taught on the music faculty at the University of British Columbia. Both her men's and women's choirs have repeatedly won first prizes in national and international competitions. Her choral compositions have been published and recorded internationally, and she frequently appears on CBC national radio as a spokesperson for the classical arts.

The first woman to conduct the National Youth Choir of Canada, Diane received the Healey Willan award in 1990 for her service to choral music in British Columbia; in 1994, she was named YWCA of Vancouver's Woman of Distinction in Arts and Culture; and in 1997 and 2004 received Distinguished Alumni Awards honouring her achievements in choral music. In 2002 she received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for her significant contribution to Canada's culture.

Dr. Joseph P. Nadeau

This season marks Dr. Nadeau's 11th year with Heartland Men's Chorus. This is also his 15th year as an active member of GALA Choruses Inc., an international association of more than 190 gay and lesbian choral groups.

Joe began his work with Heartland Men's Chorus in the fall of 1998, after serving as assistant director and interim artistic director of the Denver Gay Men's Chorus. Joe received a master's degree in choral conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Dr. Eph Ehly. Joe recently completed his Doctor of Music Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.

Matthew Oltman

Matthew Oltman, Music Director, joined Chanticleer in 1999 singing tenor with the ensemble. In 2004 he was appointed Assistant Music Director under Joseph Jennings and in 2009 took over artistic leadership of the company following Mr. Jenning's retirement. During his decade with the ensemble, Mr. Oltman appeared on twelve critically acclaimed recordings, toured extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia, and led numerous workshops and masterclasses with choristers world-wide.

In March of 2010 he conducted over 450 high school choral and orchestral students from across the country in Chanticleer's first National Youth Choral Festival, The Singing Life, on the stage of Davies Symphony Hall. He is the editor of the Chanticleer choral series, published by Hinshaw Music and was deeply involved in the publication of Chanticleer's Silver Jubilee Anthology of Music and A Chanticleer Christmas Anthology.

Buryl Red

Buryl Red, described by The Washington Post as "uncommonly creative", the musical work of Buryl Red as composer, conductor, producer, and arranger, may be experienced in such diverse venues as Carnegie Hall, Saturday Night Live, and thousands of schools, churches, and theaters around the world. His output includes more than sixteen hundred published compositions and arrangements, production of over 2500 recordings,< and the musical supervision, composition, and arranging for several hundred shows, documentaries, and musical specials for network and cable television. Several of his choral works including Celebrate Life and the first performing edition of Pergolesi's Magnificat are considered landmarks in their fields. He is the executive record producer for some of the most widely used music textbooks in the United States including the new Silver Burdett Making Music series. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Buryl Red is a graduate of the music schools of Baylor University and Yale University and now lives in New York City. He has been honored with many civic and professional awards and degrees. He is particularly honored with the inclusion of his well-known song, "In Remembrance", in The African-American Heritage Hymnal published in 2001.

Robert Scholz

Born in Chicago, and educated in the Lutheran School system there, Robert Scholz sang in school choirs and was inspired to become a choral director by the example of Gerhard Schroth. He studied piano beginning at age eight, and later took up organ. As a student at St. Olaf College from 1957-1961 he sang under Olaf Christiansen and Kenneth Jennings, and studied voice and piano.

He continued his education at the University of Illinois where he earned a Master of Music degree in musicology in 1967 and a Doctor of Musical Arts in choral conducting in 1969. While at Illinois, Scholz conducted the University Chamber Choir and was Minister of Music at First United Presbyterian Church of Urbana.

Dr. Timothy Seelig

Tim Seelig is conductor, singer, teacher and motivational speaker. In addition to Artistic Director of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, he continues a busy guest-conducting schedule throughout the U.S. and across the globe. He is Conductor Emeritus of the Turtle Creek Chorale, which he conducted for 20 years, co-founded The Women's Chorus of Dallas and taught on the faculty at Southern Methodist University.

Dr. Seelig holds four degrees, including the Doctor of Musical Arts and the Diploma from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. He has authored seven books and DVDs on choral technique including best-sellers The Perfect Blend, and The Perfect Rehearsal as well as The Perfect Choral Workbook, Quick Choral Fixes, The Music Within and the brand new Language of Music.

His recordings have been on Billboard Top Ten and iTunes Top Ten classical charts. The PBS documentary about the TCC received the national Emmy award for best documentary. Dr. Seelig has conducted around the world and regularly at Carnegie Hall for the last 25 years, as well as Lincoln Center and the Southbank Centre in London.

Robert Sund

Sund sings, plays, arranges, composes and conducts. His multi-faceted gift has given him a prominent position both on the Swedish and the international scene.

He was for many years artistic director and conductor of the mixed choir Allmanna Sången and the male choir Orphei Drangar (OD) and he founded and was the leader of both the women`s choir La Cappella and the youth choir Uppsala Musikskolas Kammarkor. Since 2004 he has also directed the Robert Sund Chamber Choir. As singer he has been a member in Eric Ericsons Chamber Choir and the legendary Kvintetten Olsson.

For 17 years he has been teaching conducting and ensemble leadership at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He is in great demand to lead courses for both choral singes and conductors in Scandinavia, Europe, the USA, South America, Africa and Asia. He has been guest conductor all over the world, from the Radio Choirs in Vienna and Stockholm to the Coro Nacional in Cuba and he has also conducted the WYC 1994 and 1997. He has been workshop leader at several World Symposia and he is a guest lecturer and a diligent jury member at choral competitions and festivals worldwide.
