This was their second championship win, reclaiming the title they had previously earned in 2004. Now, they are pleased to share with you a video presentation of Sounds of the Season 2009. Top quartet gold went to Orange County, CA's OC Times, (here singing 'You're 16, You're Beautiful and You're Mine'); the Silver to Crossroads (singing their excellent 'Mobile/Down Mobile Medley'), 3rd Place Bronze to State Line Grocery (singing 'East of the Rockies'), 4th Place Bronze to Redline (singing 'Paper Doll') and 5th Place Bronze to Old School (singing 'I Want a Girl Just Like the Girl that Married Dear Old Dad'). Review: The Barbershop Harmony Society's International Chorus competition, held in Denver, CO in July of 2007 saw California's Westminster Chorus emerge with the gold, singing gems like 'Their Hearts Were Full of Spring' and 'Strike Up the Band/Everybody Step' medley, followed by Ambassadors of Harmony, here singing 'They Didn't Believe Me,' local favorites Sound of the Rockies, singing 'Colorado, My Home,' and the Northern Lights, singing ''Cross the Mason Dixon Line.' But listening to top-20 finishers like Voices in Harmony sing 'The Sunshine of Your Smile,' The Alliance's 'When It's Nighttime in Dixieland,' Atlanta Vocal Project's 'Shakin' The Blues Away,' Vocal FX's 'When My Sugar Walks Down the Street,' Cambridge Chord Company's 'Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans,' and the Alexandria Harmonizers' 'Happy Feet Medley,' makes it clear to us what a tough decision the judges had to make!

Review: 1978 International Barbershop Harmony Society Quartet Champs BSU have had a legendary career spanning more than 3 decades, 100 recorded songs and 1000 live performances. 'Commencement' is a remarkable gift to their fans and to all fans of Barbershop, combining a dvd that follows the college analogy with a 'Digital Video Disc Yearbook' in four Chapters, Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.' These feature clips of some of the group's influences, which they call 'hero quartets:' the Suntones, the Citations and many others, with the groups' commentary on what made them want to sing along with and learn from these quartets. A favorite from Chapter 1's 14 clips would be 'The Old Songs Medley,' from Chapter 2's 6 clips, 'Porgy and Bess Overture,' from Chapter 3's 20 clips, 'Mardi Gras Medley,' and from Chapter 4's 9 clips, 'The Bluegrass Gospel Medley.' Then we come to an audio CD of 8 tunes, a few favorites are 'Back in Business,' 'It's Sand, Man,' 'I Can't Run Away From You,' 'Without A Song' and 'It's a Wonderful Life.' This audio disc is excellent, the frosting, if you will, on the cake that is the dvd. 'Freshmen,' for instance, has over 41 minutes of wonderful live video clips, 'Sophomore' has over 29 minutes, 'Junior' over 44 minutes and 'Senior' 38 minutes-of wonderful vintage costumes and great music, that shows the evolution of a group known as the 'valedictorian' of the Barbershop Harmony Society's 'class of 1978.' Trust us, there's more incredible history and music here than we can begin to describe to you. If you love Barbershop or vocal harmony in general, just treat yourself to Bluegrass Student Union's lifetime achievement: 'Commencement!'

Review: Those maestros of musical malpractice are at it again! With nonstop bravura this barbershop foursome (who have medaled at International Competitions twice) impersonate pilots, plumbers, and of course, physicians, with the attendant pantomime and props. Songs such as 'We Do Make A Barrel Of Money,' ' Ben Casey, Won't You Please Come Home' and 'In My Neat Little Hospital Gown' are send-ups of familiar tunes. Relentless humor - some ribald - and even a touch of burlesque can-can has the audience in 'stitches'! Dedicated to bass George Peters, whose recent throat surgery sadly brought his performing career to a close, this video is your prescription for fun!
Songlist: Forgive Me, I Didn't Mean To Make You Die, Huggin' And Chalkin', When It's Darkeness On A Delta, Flight Five-Oh-Two, Where Are You?, Check Your Luggage In And Whisper 'So Long Dearie', That's The Worst Jello I've Had Since Last July, Doin' The New Routine, Hug Your Plumber Today, What Takes The Place Of My Heart When It's Gone?, (The Gang That Sang) Part Of My Heart, We Do make A Barrel Of Money, Ben Casey, Won't You Please Come Home, Nothin' Could Be Finah Than A Little Old Angina In The Morning, I See Bones, I See Gizzards And Bones, (Hospital Small Talk), In My Neat Little Hospital Gown, (The Operation)
Review: These four gentlemen from Georgia, known otherwise as the 'Clown Princes' of barbershop, have once again captured the hearts and funny bones of entertainment lovers everywhere with their newest collection of songs. 'Putting the Ha in HArmony' is a double length recording, containing over 20 of Fred's most memorable live performances. The recording chronicles the past ten years of contests and shows, climaxing with their winning the SPEBSQSA's international quartet championship. It is crammed full of brilliant parodies, impeccable timing and pure blended harmonies. These songs are not available on any other recording. It is the ultimate Fredology.
Songlist: Keep Your Eye On The Girlie You Love, Someone Stole My Gal, Ballin' The Jack, Harmony Lanes / Bowling Shoes, Four Girl Medley, I Wish That We Could Someday Make Top Ten, Love's All Sweet Song, I've Got Rhythm, Fit As A Fiddle, You Are My Sunshine, Sweet Adeline, AIC Parody, I Can't Give You Anything But Love, The Meaning of FRED, All By Myself, Top Ten Parody, Name The Champs, We'd Like To Trade Our Silver, Connelly's Back In Town, Nincompoopie, If You can't Tell The World She's a Good Little Girl, Judge's Parody, Who'll Take Fourth Place?
Review: Formed in 1972, the Minneapolis/St. Paul-based Emporium won the championship after only three years in the running. These two performances were recorded with seven cameras by PBS in Charleston, North Carolina, and also at the World Theater, home of Minnesota's other famous export, the 'Prairie Home Companion.' Well, on with the show - aside from wonderful barbershop harmony, the four gents couldn't be more endearing, with corny jokes and schtick aplenty. Songs such as 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing' and 'Hard To Be Humble' - the latter an audience participation event - will have you smiling. 'I Never Knew You' is the evening's tender moment. Running time over 60 minutes.
Songlist: Harmonizin' Medley, Give My Regards To Broadway, Durante Medley, You're a Grand Old Flag, Minnesnowta, Swanee, Brothers, Control Yourself, Easter Parade, That's Entertainment, I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, Hard To Be Humble, I Never Knew You, And many more..
Review: 'Breathing to Sing' is an entertaining and educational video. Breathing to a singer is the basis for the singing sound and Lori Lyford (the excellent director of the Scottsdale Chorus and well known to Sweet Adeline singers and directors) demonstrates the physical mechanics and the proper use of the diaphragm to increase and expand breath capacity. This is a 'must have' instructional DVD.
Review: There's nothing quite like a live performance of a top-notch Sweet Adeline chorus and it can be both a visual and aural delight. This well-produced DVD captures one of the nation's finest choruses in full voice and top form as they sing, dance and clown around in a most entertaining way. This release includes all four of their championship show packages from Reno, Salt Lake City, Orlando and Phoenix! Here's your opportunity to see the award-winning choreography of Sweet Adeline International's only champion chorus that has won four straight gold medals!!
Songlist: Respect - Redding Arns, Think - Franklin Arns, New Attitude - Robinson, Elvis Medley, They Long To Be Close To You, Blues Brothers Medley, Hooked On A Feeling, 70's Medley, Lulu's Back In Town, If I Give My Heart To You, How Many Hearts Have You Broken, Super Heroes Package, I Wanna Come Back As A Man
Review: Ranked 5th in the world, the MVE is known for being the stage presentation innovator of Barbershop chorus singing. This DVD program traces the evolution from the beginnings of the group to the highly acclaimed fish set from the 2006 International contest stage. Viewers are rewarded by being able to view the very unique MVE style of excitement in three of the most popular and medal-winning performances: 'Fish,' 'Green Army Soldiers,' and 'Broadway Waiters,' plus 8 other contest sets. Some, like the 'Monks' from the Buckeye, have never been released before.
Songlist: Indianapolis 2006, Salt Lake City 2005, Louisville 2004, Montreal 2003, Portland 2002, Nashville 2001, Kansas City 2000, Anaheim 1999, Buckeye Contest Sets: 1997, Buckeye Contest Sets: 1995
Review: The focus in the Barbershop world is excellence in live performance, and all of us in the audience of the 2002 Harmony Sweeps Finals were treated to one of the best, the set of LA's The Perfect Gentlemen. 'Live' gives everyone else a chance to join the excited, appreciative audience enjoying the Gentlemen live in concert, at the historic Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu. (This would be a good time to warn purists that there is, not too surprisingly, some ukelele accompaniment in several of the songs). PG classics 'Meanest Thing You Ever Did,' 'They Wrote 'Em in the Good Old Days,' 'Java Jive,' 'Room Service' and 'I Want You to Be My Baby' all lead up to the Gents' hilarious masterpiece, 'Salute to the 20th Century,' with costumes, wigs, and musical renditions of 'Shine On Harvest Moon' in everything from Barbershop and Dixieland to Blues, Big Band and Doo-Wop to Disco, Techno Punk and Rap. And believe us, you haven't lived until you've seen 4 kind of chubby barbershop guys in sunglasses, NFL jerseys and spats do a devastatingly funny takedown of Rap music. Great stuff!
Songlist: Meanest Thing You Ever Did, They Wrote 'Em In The Good Ol' Days, Java Jive, Room Service, I Want You To Be My Baby, Salute To The 20th Century, Ukulele Lady
Review: Famed videographer Chad Guyton and his 7-man camera crew followed one of the best Barbershop groups in the world, BHS International Anaheim Bronze medalists Storm Front, around for four days in January, 2009 during one of the largest Youth Harmony Festivals in the U.S., sponsored by BYU-Idaho, attended by over 1,000 kids. Storm Front was the headliner, and we see over two hours of live cuts from the stage, as well as very funny outtakes. Listen to favorites such as 'Poor Wayfarin' Stranger,' 'GuiTarzan,' 'The 12 Days of Christmas' and the showstopping 'Bugler's Holiday.' This is Barbershop at its best, and the 'Behind the Curtain' special feature is a must-see!
Songlist: Comes Love, Poor Wayfaring Stranger, Don't Fence Me In, Where or When, Eleanor Rigby, Scottish Spring, Filbert the Frog, 12 Days of Christmas, Dreams of You, Guitarzan, Bugler's Holiday, There's Just Something About That Name, 2008 International Contest Sets (all 6 songs)
Review: This is the live DVD of Storm Front's 'The Road to Gold!', which we were just raving about in our review above. It contains the exact same live 6-song Finals performances by Storm Front from 2008, 2009 and 2010 when their wonderful blending of humor and harmony won them Gold Medals! Why should you get the DVD, you might ask, when you already have the CD? Well, there were a number of places on the CD where there was silence, but the guys were doing something and the audience was laughing hysterically. On the DVD, like the audiences, we could see everything these very funny guys were doing, so you'll also want to get the DVD. Enough said!

Review: Indianapolis, IN welcomed the 2004 Sweet Adelines' convention to their beautiful city, where talented, massive choruses belted out the harmonies with gold, silver and bronze on the line. We have here the top ten choruses. In 5th place was 'San Diego Chorus', in 4th the 'Ronninge Show Chorus,' 3rd, 'Gem City Chorus,' 2nd, 'Skyline Chorus,' and the Gold Medal winners, 'Harborlights Chorus.' There are four songs by The Harborlights Chorus, 'The Joint Is Jumpin', 'When Day Is Done,' 'Roses of Yesterday,' and 'My Honey's Lovin' Arms.' Review: Looking at the wonderful pix of the top 10 Choruses at the International Chorus Finals in October 2005 in Detroit, we totally want to be there. Incredible costumes, joyous faces-dozens of beaming, beautiful women having big fun singing their hearts out, going for the Gold. That honor went to Scottsdale (AZ) Chorus, so consistently fine that they have entered 13 International competitions since 1976 and have placed no lower than 3rd, winning it all 4 times! Silver went to Pride of Baltimore Chorus, 3rd to Kansas City (MO) Chorus and 4th to Coastline Show Chorus of Providence, RI. Favorites among these 26 tunes are Irving Berlin's 'What'll I Do,' by Scottsdale Chorus, Berlin's 'How Deep Is the Ocean,' by Pride of Baltimore, 'Runnin' Wild,' by Kansas City Chorus and 'The Joint Is Jumpin'' by Coastline Show Chorus.
