Surprising harmonic twists begin with a modal treatment of the theme in the dorian, a bell-tone choral accompaniment of the solos in the second verse, and an increasingly jazz-oriented harmonic treatment of the last verse ending in a surprising climax, as the piece winds its way back to major mode.
