Julie and Dux DeGiovanni were born in the early 1930s in Chester, PA, and worked in their teens at Sears and their parents' dry cleaning business while singing and performing around town, trying to break into the music business. Their big break came when local group the Four Aces were signed by RCA and left town, vacating the stage at the Ukrainian Club, which was filled by the Sisters. This attracted a following and a visit by a talent scout from Epic Records. The Sisters wrote many of their own tunes, including their first single, 1953's "The Angel Passed By." "Should I Run," "All Present But One," "I Took Him from You" and "Juke Box Polka," were recorded for Epic in early 1954. Later that year they co-wrote their best-known hit, "(My Baby Don't Love Me) No More." The Sisters' smooth, high sound (similar to the McGuire Sisters) scored a lot of airplay with "D'Ja Hear What I Say," "Pass the Plate of Happiness Around," "C'est La Vie," "Don't Promise Me (The Can Can Song)," "Where Would I Be" and "Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder," recorded for Columbia, Mercury and UA, These 28 songs, every one recorded for Columbia/Epic, show highlight the Sisters' writing talents, but most of all their bright, upbeat sound. Pure, fun, toe-tapping entertainment from the mid-1950s! All songs orchestrally-accompanied.
