Fargo, North Dakota, home of the Blenders, produces another top notch a cappella quartet. "Buyin' Time" is an impressive, poised Contemporary CD in the mold of Rockapella and the Coats: strong vocal percussion, tight-as-a-drum arrangements, smooth, perfect harmonies. And that's not all - there's brilliant original songwriting by group members Josh Baesler ("In My Dreams," "Changes" and "Buyin'"), Kevin Taylor (the infectious-hooked "Contemptible" and the Simon & Garfunkle-esque "Someday Soon"), and Brent Thorson ("Your Kisses). Add to that dynamite covers of "Mustang Sally," the Mamas and the Papas' "California Dreamin'," Kenny Loggins' "Footloose" and Van Morrison's "Moondance," and you have something very special.
