When this distinguished British composer was asked to write a short motet for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, he balked; remembering the musical over-pomposity of the 1937 affair. "If you can persuade the Archbishop to have a hymn in the Coronation serivce," he quipped to the organist of Westminster Abbey, "I'll make a mess-up of 'Old Hundredth.'" It has since become an all-time classic in church literature.

Ralph Vaughan Williams' setting of The Hundredth Psalm is for mixed chorus and orchestra. This is the keyboard/choral score. "O be joyful in the Lord all ye lands: serve the Lord with gladness, and come before his presence with a song."
