InVoice has earned a reputation as Pittsburg's premiere a cappella ensemble. Audiences flock to their shows, which feature polished, upbeat performances of jazz, pop, and doo-wop classics spanning six decades. The group came to prominence following widely acclaimed performances at the 1995 Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival. They have been featured performers at festivals, nightclubs, and exclusive parties throughout the region ever since. InVoice was called "phenomenal" by Denis Colwell, artistic director of Pittsburgh's nationally-known River City Brass Band, who invited the group to appear on their Big Band Brass CD release. InVoice is Lynn Lipovich, soprano; Lisa Hindmarsh, alto; Mark Spondike, tenor; David Loy, baritone; and Thatcher Montgomery, bass. Out of Nowhere marks InVoice's solo recording debut.

It would be simple to categorize In Voice as simply a fine group
of singers who are comfortable like the proverbial old shoe. It would be wrong!
For just as you fit into a comfortable groove something unusual is thrown in
the mix. On the very first tune, "Choo Choo Ch'boogie," every thing
is going just fine, toes tapping and all...then here's a vocal trumpet, get
this, sung by the bass singer! It's great, too. C'mon, a bass singer, doing
trumpet? Thus we tour a comfortable familiarity of jazz, pop, and a doo-wop
or two when, wham, don't you dare get complacent! We should mention the soul
moving original, "Let Them Shine" by Mark Spondike, the tenor. It'll
get covered, sure as shootin'.
