Review: This cute CD contains songs about childhood with texts that are reminiscent of years past. Most of the songs are Chinese with folk-songs from Vietnam and Taiwan mixed in. Though all are sung in Chinese, there are English translations as well. The award-winning Beijing Angelic Choir is very charming.
Songlist: Childhood, Song of Splashing Water, Moving on in High Spirit, Little Flower Hat, You Who Shared the Same Desk With Me, Pen-hu Beach, The Arch Moon, Western Wind's Words, Malan Girl, In the Bamboo Chamber, Come Back My Girl, Lu-Bing Flower
Review: The Beijing Angelic Choir, composed of the best voices from several local choirs in Beijing, is distinguished by their sweet, superbly trained voices and musical training. Included are 12 songs: "You-you-zha," "Clear Moon, Quiet Winds," "Hammock Hanging Between Betel Trees," "Puyama Lullaby," "Tu-jia Lullaby," "A-ni-qie-er," "Kitty, Stop Meowing," "Li Lullaby," "Lullaby of the Fisherman's Family," "Tibetan Lullaby," "My Brother, Pu-ru-lai" and "A-lai, Ba-lang-mu." These songs are lightly accompanied, with emphasis, of course, on the singing of the children. The sound is dreamlike, sweet and soaring, almost other-worldly. We'd love to learn more about the beautiful, haunting lullabies, but most of the liner notes are in Chinese and we can only use our imagination. "Lullabies" was a finalist for the 1996 NAIRD award for the Best Children's Music, and is stunningly lovely CD!
Songlist: You-you-zha (Man), Clear Moon, Quiet Winds (Northeastern China), Hammock Hanging Beween Betel Trees (Guangdong), Puyuma Lullaby (Taiwan), Tu-jia Lullaby (Hunan), A-ni-qie-er (Hani tribe, Yunnan), Kitty, Stop Meowing (Anhul), Li Lullaby (Hainan), Lullaby of the Fisherman's Family (Guangxi), Tibetan Lullaby (Western Tibet), My Brother, Pu-ru-lai (Inner Mongolian), A-lai, Ba-lang-mu (Ulger)
Review: The Beijing Angelic Choir sings lullabies from Austria, Germany, Italy, England, America and more. The sweet voiced children's choir sings the many familiar tunes in Chinese. The children are accompanied by lightly synthesized backgrounds. It is very interesting to hear how western songs are interpreted by the Chinese. All of the translations are in Chinese.
Songlist: Lullaby (Mozart) (Austria), Lullaby (Brahms) (Germany), Lullaby (Italy), Children Are Asleep (Russia), Autumn Night (England), Sleep, Darling Baby (Mexico), Lullaby (Schubert) (Austria), Lullaby (America), Im Herbst, Lullaby (Japan), Yi-li Yi-li (Phillipines), Lullaby (France), Lullaby (India)
Review: Folk songs from Japan, America and Germany are heard along side some popular songs including some by Stephen Foster. The songs are sung in Chinese with the exception of "Old Black Joe" and "Home Sweet Home" which are sung in English as well as Chinese. The Beijing Angelic Choir sings with varied accompaniment. The liner notes contain English translations.
Songlist: Praying, Love, Old Black Joe, Home Sweet Home, Colorado Night, Nostalgia, Verdant is the Pasture, Silent is the Starry Night, Little Bird, Old Folks at Home, River Moldau, Flower, Long, Long Ago
Review: "The Jasmine Flower" features the harmonious and transcendent sound of the Beijing Angelic Choir, which is composed of the best singers from many local choirs in Beijing. Featured are 13 folk and traditional songs of different regions of China and Taiwan: "Children from the Mountain," The Celebration of the Tribal Harvest Festivals," "The Anthem of Parents," "Eight Fiery Horses," "Snow-White Flower Blossoms," "Wedding," "Dong-Dong-Kui (The Anthem of Joy)", the title tune, "My Beautiful Homeland," "Lady A-Shi-Ma," "The Jubilant Torch Festival Celebration," "My Lovely Hometown" and "A Rainy Day." All songs are lightly accompanied, the emphasis being on the singing of the children. "Jasmine Flower" is a joyous celebration of beauty and nature, as touching and profound as an ancient Chinese brush painting. The soaring sound of the soloists and singers is almost unbelievably beautiful!

Review: This international recording contains songs from Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, America, Italy, Israel and more. All of the songs are sung in Chinese. However, the choir does sing part of "Auf Flugeln Des Gesanges" by Mendelssohn in German and a very cute version of "Home on the Range" as well as "Hava Nagila" in English. The translations are in Chinese and English. This is a very charming program by the Beijing Angelic Choir.
